My stay in the Hospital
5:49 PM Edit This 0 Comments »Ok, so I know that I haven't posted anything in a while...so I guess I will delve into it all now... K..I got to the same day surgery at 6:30 a.m. and they took me and my mom to a little room. There I changed into their cute little night gown and laid in the little bed they had for me. They asked me a bunch of questions and those same questions were asked by several people. They put the wrist bands on me and then I cleaned the polish off my toes. The Awesome doctor Cronk came in and signed my belly and talked to me for a minute. Then the anesthesiologist came in, I sign papers and then he said he would be my bartender for the night lol and then they told me I probably wouldn't remember much after I got the meds I was fixing to get. So then he said, here is your first cocktail.... thats all I remember for a while....
Alot of what I'm about to tell you is not going to be very pretty or nice but I don't want to leave anything out.
My next memory is of me choking, but don't be alarmed I Barely remember that at all just very vaguely, it was either when they were putting the breathing tube in or taking it out, but it was not a bad feeling, it was kinda like what one might feel just being born... it was pretty cool to me, cause there was no pain, no panic. Then I remember my mom trying to wake me up but my eyes didn't want to open, but finally I came around. I was in the ICU room, throat was dry and my lips were very dry. About the best feeling in the world was when my mom swabbed my lips and mouth with ice water, but I didn't drink it. lol I couldn't have anything to drink or eat for the first 24 hours after surgery... that wasn't too bad to me, that whole night was kind of a blur... I just wanna say right here, that I had the best nurses ever! They were so awesome! The best one in there though was my mom, she was perfect. I don't know how I would have done this without her, She stayed at the hospital the whole time I was there. My husband had and still has a lot to do, while I was at the hospital he was taking care of the kid and things. And as soon as he got time he was by my side.
So, Anyways, as the night progressed, I had low grade fever. I was on oxygen, IV, heart monitor,Catheter, the usually.
So I started feeling breathless, and nauseated. That was pretty bad, I kept feeling like this on into the night and I just hate feeling nauseous. I don't know who doesn't. Anyways, every so often I would wake up and have these loud hiccup noises and they would hurt real bad if I hadn't had my pain meds yet but not too bad if I did have my pain meds. I woke up and started doing that hiccup thing, (between a hiccup and burp) and then I knew I was gonna throw up, so I quickly told some one and my mom grabbed a big pink bucket and here come the Nurses and I start throwing up...but wait!...I hadn't had anything to eat or drink in a long time, so I looked down and I should say to my horror, but I was so glad to be rid of what was in there, but to my horror, I was puking up a bucket of blood!! The taste alone was unsettling but you could imagine the anxiety and fear that I felt when I saw my blood in that bucket.
The nurses waited about 5 or more maybe 6 hours to try and get me up to walk. I was suppose to walk at 4 hours after but obviously I couldn't. Well the nurse came in there, It was a male nurse, but there were others that came in too. The nurse got me ready by unhooking me and all that, and so he goes to sit me up on the bed and I sit there, for probably seconds, I see a nurse coming in the door, she's talking but I can't hear her. My hearings gone, I can't breath right, and my sight is going. My eyes were rolling. The nurse laid me back down immediately, put everything back on me, my heart rate went way up to like 150 and my blood pressure went down to 76/53.. something like that, If you don't know, that is Very Low! Anyways, as soon as they laid me back down, I came too. I felt SO HOT! I remember different people washing my face with a cold wash clothe. It felt so good.
I'm so glad my mom wasn't in the room when I practically past out, she would've freaked out. She came in right after it happened.
So! That is about all I remember of the first 24 hours in there....
I will post the second day next.... Thanks for Reading!
