Left out

I left a part of the hospital stay out and mixed it up too. The first time I went in for an upper GI they wheeled me in on a bed and stuck the thingy down my nose. The second time is when they wheeled me down and I tried to stand up and passed out. Then they put me on a bed and laid the x ray machine thing down and they scooted me over onto it. Then I had to drink a bunch of this clear nasty stuff. Then this white chalky stuff. But they let me gargle with water everytime I took a drink. The reason I had to do the upper GI again was to make sure everything was going down alright. And it was....That's when I went back to the room and they told me they decided to give me a transfusion....there...sorry bout leavin that out.

SO EXCITED!!

Day 5 in the hospital

Well, this is the last day that I was in the hospital. I got up a puttered around awhile. I took a long shower. I took my time, I didn't really want to rush anything. We left there around 1 p.m. Before I was released I walked all the way down to Ms. Marklin's office. (She's my bariatric nurse.) She highlighted stuff in a book that she gave me and then I walked back up to my room. That was like the longest walk, EVER! Anyhoo, when I got back I was released and that was that. So here are some more pictures for ya. They are of flowers my hubby gsve me. Of me and my mom. Of my wheelchair ride. Of my family walking in front of the wheel chair. And me getting in my van.

Day number 4 in the hospital

Well, now we are down to the 4th day, this day (I already have talked about early this morning)Later Thursday morning, I got to take a shower, my mom helped me tremendously with that. Again, I could not have asked for a better person to be in there with me, she took awesome care of me.

When I got in the shower, the shower head was broken, so it kept falling over, but I didn't care, the shower felt SO good!! (wait, I forgot, sometime early Wednesday morning doctor Cronk said that I would be moved to a new room if I was doing good Thursday, So I was excited about that) Well, I had taken the worlds greatest shower and was feeling good, but all my usual nurses weren't there. There was a new one now, she came in, straightened everything up, talked about having a new tv in the rooms, just kinda bussed around in there.

Then we packed up all my stuff in a wheel chair and I walked to my new room. I was free of all the stuff that I had attached to me, at last! I had a nice nurse and nurse's assistant. I had to start taking everything by mouth, ya know, my pills and pain meds. And I had to walk around this (seemed like) giant hall way that went in a circle. It was tiring. I made it around once at a time. That was my day on day 4. Pretty uneventful, oh yeah! and doctor Cronk came in and said that if I was doing real good, that I could go home the next day. He said I was still really anemic but I was taking iron pills to make that better. So that was really good news. Now for some pictures of day 4.

Pureed diet

9:20 AM Edit This 0 Comments »

Monday, I was put on a pureed diet after two weeks of being on a full liquid diet. I was happy but worried at the same time. Its kinda hard for me to eat. Like most of the time I have no desire to eat. But I have to, to continue my weight loss. I have been doing very well with vitamins and water. I was worried about protein. On my first day of eating pureed food and counting protein I kinda freaked out and called Ms. Marklin. LOL I mean, I can only eat 2 tbls at a time, how in the heck am I suppose to get 30-40 grams of protein a day. So I panicked and called the nurse... oh well, at least I'm not all laid back about it, I really want to do the right thing. So I found out there are many ways to get protein in my diet... I am doing alot better on that. Anyhoo, above is a picture of the first pureed meal I ate. It is tuna, egg, relish, mayo, and mustard.... oh, and a little cheese. YUM! I could only eat 2 tbs though. I am going to post more in a little while that is all on this though.

The Rest of the Story.... stay in the hospital

Hello...I wanted to start this blog off by saying... I'm down 29 lbs!!! Losing weight really does feel great!

Anyhoo, ok, now for my second day in ICU. I remember sleeping some kinda in and out I got those hiccup thingys ALL through the night and early Tuesday morning. This nurse always checked in on me ANYTIME I stirred and she heard me. I wish I could remember all the nurses names but I was too out of it. So 4 o'clock in the morning rolls around and I had been nauseated for a little while, I tell my mom I'm gonna throw up and and she gets me a bucket and I start throwing up blood again. The nurses were around me doing what they knew to do and then I fall into a deep sleep. Well, that morning they sit me up for a while and I do ok like that. Doctor Cronk comes by and asks me if I think I could stand for a few minutes and I say maybe. So a nurse comes in the room and helps me in a wheel chair. My husband is in the room and he is talking to me and then all of a sudden I can't hear him. My blood pressure drops my heart rate goes up and I pass out, to lala land. Except I hear sing in my head, I kid you not lol, the song was Jesus hold my Hand. And then I come to and I'm in the whell chair still and I feel better. Doctor Cronk is in the mix somewhere but no one is standing out to me but me at this point. Poor doctor Cronk or anyone who talked to me, for that matter. Everytime someone talked to me I fell asleep, I was so weak and out of it. Anyway, so the nurse wheels me down to get an upper GI done. (You have to drink this yucky stuff and they look at your stomach and stuff.) I get down there to the room, the nurses help me up and I stand ans they instructed me. Then I got hot, couldn't breath, couldn't hear, and the next thing I know I'm lying with my back on the floor feet propped up head propped up because... yep you guessed it I had passed out. So the good thing is is that I didn't have drink that aweful stuff, did I say good news?? No, I only thought it was good news cause the alternative was Dr. Conk Sticking a tube in my nose down my throat, which made me gag....which made me like spray throw up and it was OLD NASTY BLOOD! EWWW! This was the most horrible thing I went threw, oh man! So they suck all the blood out, and put liquid in called contrast and look at everything. And they find it, its a blood clot. So now I have to go and get a scope down my throat (thank God I was asleep for that) but Dr. Conk says I will have to keep that thing in my throat for a couple of hours. OH GOD!! I thought, now this is just too much, I can't handle this, I need this thing out pronto! And I guess Dr. Cronk saw or just knew that because he got me in instantly. They went in and sucked the blood clot out and made sure there was no more bleeding. I don't remember waking up from that I just remember being back in my room. But I still couldn't sit up, now they know why. My blood level had been dropping so obviously I had been bleeding. I'll use Dr. Cronks words, he said I was pretty darn anemic. So I got a blood transfusion! wow! Crazy huh? So they gave me 2 bags of blood through that day and night. Each bag took about 3 hours to go throw. It made my body SO hot and flushed. But it made me feel good and strong at the same time. And as the night went on I felt stronger and stronger. They didn't want me to get up at first so guess what, I had to use a bed pan. That was not very comfy. and It was embarrassing...thats all I'll say about that. So during the middle of the night, I gotta go again, so I get to walk, they help me to the bathroom and then helped me back... I sat up on my own!! I walked on my own!! I went to the bathroom om my own!! Sorry got excited there lol Oh and the nurses were excited too they were just shocked. Because they had seen me the way I was the other times I tried to get up. I had to go to the bathroom three times that night. And then I sat in a chair at like 6 o'clock Wednesday morning. I had breakfast (liquids of course) and then I walked around the nurses station sometime that morning. Until I was really tired and wanted/need to go to bed. And I slept good. This is a picture on the 3rd day. The ones above are on day two.
Well....I will post more later, I gotta go for now...I'll keep you posted!
