The Rest of the Story.... stay in the hospital
8:39 AM Edit This 0 Comments »Hello...I wanted to start this blog off by saying... I'm down 29 lbs!!! Losing weight really does feel great!
Anyhoo, ok, now for my second day in ICU. I remember sleeping some kinda in and out I got those hiccup thingys ALL through the night and early Tuesday morning. This nurse always checked in on me ANYTIME I stirred and she heard me. I wish I could remember all the nurses names but I was too out of it. So 4 o'clock in the morning rolls around and I had been nauseated for a little while, I tell my mom I'm gonna throw up and and she gets me a bucket and I start throwing up blood again. The nurses were around me doing what they knew to do and then I fall into a deep sleep. Well, that morning they sit me up for a while and I do ok like that. Doctor Cronk comes by and asks me if I think I could stand for a few minutes and I say maybe. So a nurse comes in the room and helps me in a wheel chair. My husband is in the room and he is talking to me and then all of a sudden I can't hear him. My blood pressure drops my heart rate goes up and I pass out, to lala land. Except I hear sing in my head, I kid you not lol, the song was Jesus hold my Hand. And then I come to and I'm in the whell chair still and I feel better. Doctor Cronk is in the mix somewhere but no one is standing out to me but me at this point. Poor doctor Cronk or anyone who talked to me, for that matter. Everytime someone talked to me I fell asleep, I was so weak and out of it. Anyway, so the nurse wheels me down to get an upper GI done. (You have to drink this yucky stuff and they look at your stomach and stuff.) I get down there to the room, the nurses help me up and I stand ans they instructed me. Then I got hot, couldn't breath, couldn't hear, and the next thing I know I'm lying with my back on the floor feet propped up head propped up because... yep you guessed it I had passed out. So the good thing is is that I didn't have drink that aweful stuff, did I say good news?? No, I only thought it was good news cause the alternative was Dr. Conk Sticking a tube in my nose down my throat, which made me gag....which made me like spray throw up and it was OLD NASTY BLOOD! EWWW! This was the most horrible thing I went threw, oh man! So they suck all the blood out, and put liquid in called contrast and look at everything. And they find it, its a blood clot. So now I have to go and get a scope down my throat (thank God I was asleep for that) but Dr. Conk says I will have to keep that thing in my throat for a couple of hours. OH GOD!! I thought, now this is just too much, I can't handle this, I need this thing out pronto! And I guess Dr. Cronk saw or just knew that because he got me in instantly. They went in and sucked the blood clot out and made sure there was no more bleeding. I don't remember waking up from that I just remember being back in my room. But I still couldn't sit up, now they know why. My blood level had been dropping so obviously I had been bleeding. I'll use Dr. Cronks words, he said I was pretty darn anemic. So I got a blood transfusion! wow! Crazy huh? So they gave me 2 bags of blood through that day and night. Each bag took about 3 hours to go throw. It made my body SO hot and flushed. But it made me feel good and strong at the same time. And as the night went on I felt stronger and stronger. They didn't want me to get up at first so guess what, I had to use a bed pan. That was not very comfy. and It was embarrassing...thats all I'll say about that. So during the middle of the night, I gotta go again, so I get to walk, they help me to the bathroom and then helped me back... I sat up on my own!! I walked on my own!! I went to the bathroom om my own!! Sorry got excited there lol Oh and the nurses were excited too they were just shocked. Because they had seen me the way I was the other times I tried to get up. I had to go to the bathroom three times that night. And then I sat in a chair at like 6 o'clock Wednesday morning. I had breakfast (liquids of course) and then I walked around the nurses station sometime that morning. Until I was really tired and wanted/need to go to bed. And I slept good. This is a picture on the 3rd day. The ones above are on day two.
Well....I will post more later, I gotta go for now...I'll keep you posted!
